BIO

Fien Troch, born in 1978, is a Belgian film director, producer and screenwriter. After graduating from the Sint-Lukas Art Academy in Brussels in 2000, she achieved several nominations and awards in her chosen career.

Her first full-length film Someone Else’s Happiness (2005) was nominated for the Grand Prix at the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent, and for the Joseph Plateau award for Best Belgian Director and Best Belgian Screenplay. It won the Golden Alexander at Thessaloniki Film Festival, as well as an award for Best Screenplay. It also took home prizes at the Film Festival of Angers, Salerno and Taipei.

Her next feature Unspoken (2008) received the André Avens Award for Best Film by the Belgian Film Critics Association. Kid (2012) was nominated for two Margritte Awards and her most recent film Home (2016), played at numerous festivals. Home won the Grand Prize of the Jury at Les Arcs, and three awards at the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent. Fien won the prestigious Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival.
